Dr David Miller
Dr David Miller is a Queensland trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in foot and ankle surgery. He has completed two years of subspecialty foot and ankle fellowship training in the United Kingdom.
David was awarded his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Queensland in 2007 and completed his residency at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital. He undertook his Orthopaedic surgical training in Queensland based hospitals and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2017.
British Fellowship Experience
Dr Miller has completed 2 years of post-fellowship sub-speciality training in Foot & Ankle Surgery in London and Bristol, United Kingdom.
Dr Miller has completed further clinical and research based Foot & Ankle Subspeciality Orthopaedic training:
- Fortius Sports Foot and Ankle Fellowship, London under Mr James Calder, a leading sports foot and ankle surgeon, providing David with extensive training in the treatment of elite level athletes, gymnasts and ballet dancers.
- Dr Miller also obtained training in minimally invasive forefoot and bunion correction under Mr Lloyd Williams and undertook further training in this technique in Germany, France & Spain.
- Fortius Clinic & Imperial Hospital Fellowship under Mr Peter Rosenfeld. This fellowship encompassed complex forefoot reconstruction, minimally invasive forefoot surgery, total ankle replacement and diabetic foot management, at St Mary’s and Charring Cross Hospitals, London.
- Avon Orthopaedic Centre Fellowship in Bristol, UK under Mr Ian Winson. This centre has a strong focus on the use of advanced arthroscopic “key hole” techniques as well as complex reconstructive procedures in both elective and trauma conditions, diabetic foot care and total ankle replacement.
Research and Teaching
Dr Miller has a strong focus and passion for research and teaching. He currently holds an academic title at the University of Queensland. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at both a national and international level as well as being an invited speaker at the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy in Glasgow 2018. David has also authored two textbook chapters on foot and ankle surgery which are currently under publication.
David is an International Reviewer for the Bone and Joint Journal (UK) and Foot & Ankle Surgery Journals.
